Grand opening and ribbon cutting of the Butler Center for Hospitality and Culinary Arts at Wichita’s Boston Rec Center. Tour the recently renovated facility, learn more about this innovative program and meet our students, staff and new Executive Chef, John Michael. Join us at 2:30 p.m. for ribbon cutting and dedication followed by a baking demonstration by renowned lawyer-turned-baker and founder of CakeLove Warren Brown.

Warren Brown left a career practicing law as a litigator for the federal government to follow his passion and he founded CakeLove bakery in 2002. He has grown his organization to include 6 retail storefronts and has been recognized for his entrepreneurial spirit by local and national media. From 2005 to 2007 Mr. Brown was the host of the television show Sugar Rush on the Food Network. He enjoys sharing the joys of baking and has authored three cookbooks to encourage others to bake from scratch. Learn more at cakelove.com.
Butler Executive Chef
Starting at the age of 12, John Michael has more than 20 years experience in the restaurant industry in London, North Carolina, New York, Virginia, Napa and Kansas. He has both an Associate and Bachelors degree from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, one of the foremost Culinary schools in the world, both with honors. Since coming to Wichita, Michael has been a tireless teacher and advocate of food and wine.
