Butler wants you to join us in celebration of World Food Day to package 50,000 meals for starving people around the world. We’re partnering with Numana, Inc. a non-profit public charity, to participate in the first annual State-Wide Packaging Event, Swipe.
Date: October 16, 2011
Time: 12 p.m. (noon) – 5 p.m.
Location: Butler Power Plant (Gymnasium) 500 Bldg.
901 S. Haverhill Road, El Dorado
Meal Goal: 50,000
Along with 10 other Kansas colleges, Butler is proud to take part in a State-Wide Packaging Event, SWIPE. Numana, Inc., a 501(c)3 public charity, has given an initial amount of 20,000 meals free of charge, it is up to the college and community to raise the money for the extra meals to be packaged.
Volunteers gather around tables and package rice, soy, freeze-dried beans and a vitamin blend into packages that feed six people. In just an hour, 10 people can package over 1,200 meals! Each life-saving meal only costs .30 cents. With the goal of 50,000 meals, $15,000 needs to be raised to provide these meals to the people who need them most.
