Can you say Sesquicentennial? 150 years later, learn about Kansas’ role in the Civil War

The El Dorado Times posted about Thursday’s Kansas Humanities Council program at Butler, which features Emporia State University history professor Brian Craig Miller discussing Kanas’ largely unrecognized role in the U.S. Civil War.

“I wondered why Kansas and the border war with Missouri had been ignored. I constructed this presentation to explore why the Civil War struggle in Kansas had been diminished in the larger collective memory of the American Civil War,” Miller said in the article.

The event kicks off at 4 p.m. at the Butler of Andover library. For more information, contact the library at 322-3235. Click here to read The Times’ story
