After 115,000 votes from across the country in less than 24 hours, the Butler Headliners didn’t quite capture the vote – but they for sure captured America’s heart.
And though they didn’t score the most votes – this was most certainly a HUGE win and celebration for the Headliners…our entire music and fine arts department…and for Butler Community College.
Ms. Valerie Lippoldt Mack and her team of extraordinary instructors and students showed the entire nation – and, truly the entire world – the quality, personality and power of Butler Community College. The exemplary class, graciousness and talent that this stellar group presented and demonstrated throughout this process and to a global audience will forever remain etched in the minds of millions across the globe.
Yes. The world will miss the chance of being entertained by this mighty group of Headliners from south central Kansas. But they will long remember Butler through the faces of these young men and women.
Yes. It is time to celebrate; because we don’t need a trip to New York to make our Headliners winners. They were powerful and successful from the first moment they walked on to campus. And today, they are not more successful because they nearly won a contest. Rather, your Butler Headliners are truly successful because they had the courage to compete, the dare to believe and integrity to remain a champion regardless of whatever outcome.
And, in doing so…they won much more, including the hearts of America.
What would you like to say to the Butler Headliners or about this experience?
