History of Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is a day celebrated every year by people exchanging candy, flowers, gifts and going on dates. But did you know Valentine’s Day has been celebrated since 496 AD and was established by Pope Gelasius I? It was actually named after Saint Valentine and the stories about his life and his struggles to stay true to the idea of love are what form the concept of Valentine’s Day that we have today.
